Boyd “Ike” Caldwell Roach, Jr.

Boyd Caldwell Roach, Jr (Ike) of McMurray, beloved husband, father, and great-grandfather died on Sunday, November 13 with his loving wife and children by his side.

He was born on June 21, 1927 in Thompsonville, Peters Township, where he lived all his life.  He was the son of Mary B. (Fulton) and Boyd C. Roach, Sr.  On March 28, 1953 he married Sara Jean McCurry.

Mr. Roach attended the Peters Township Schools.  After high school he served in the United States Army Air Force.  Upon his discharge, he graduated from Washington and Jefferson College and later completed additional graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University.

He began working in the Sales Department of Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation (LTV Steel) where he retired as a Purchasing Agent.

Mr. Roach was a life-long dedicated member of Center Presbyterian Church where he served as an ordained deacon and elder, trustee and auditor.  He also served as a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.

He was a world traveler, visiting over sixty countries with his wife and friends. He loved to garden and work outdoors.  He spent much of his time working on family genealogy. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife Jean of 69 years and two children, son Scott Roach (Karen), daughter Dona Barranti (Tony).  Surviving also are three grandchildren, Paul Becker (Amanda), Cecily Boron, Ph.D. (Thaddeus, Ph.D.), Andrew Worthington (fiancé Chad Thompson), and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and McKenzie Becker and Thaddeus Boron IV.  He leaves behind his faithful friend Missy and joins his faithful friend Sadie.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 1 – 3 PM and 6 – 8 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Center Presbyterian Church.
