Rebecca Louise McConnell was born on November 26, 1998. She is the loving Daughter of David and Cindy McConnell, sister of Daniel McConnell and she is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Rebecca was a talented artist, writer, photographer and loved music. Her love of animals was her passion, especially for her dog, Roo. Her struggles with health hindered her daily life, but her determination to overcome these challenges was incredible.  She had a wonderful sense of humor, a strong will, and cared for those around her.  Our lives will never be the same without our beautiful daughter/sister, and she will be deeply missed.  We know she is watching over us all from heaven.  We are thankful for the support of friends and family to help us get through this very sad and difficult time.

Family and Friends are welcome from 5:00PM until time of service at 8:00PM on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. The family asks that you please make donations to Animal Friends in memory of Rebecca.

Rebecca was a classmate of mine. She was always so sweet to me relating to my struggles and showing me I wasn’t alone. I very much appreciated her kindness and strength. She will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family and those close to her, I’m so sorry for your loss.

When I was four years old, the incredible gift that was my cousin, Bec, came into all of our lives with a mischievous smile, a love of chocolate, a generous heart, and an honesty that never faltered (even when you weren't prepared to hear it). We grew up 12 houses down the same road from each other, which made us co-conspirators by the time we could speak in full sentences. Before the woods in our backyards became housing plans, they were wild adventures with landmarks only we could recognize. Snowdays meant sled-riding together and making snow forts, followed by the obligatory cup of hot cocoa. My aunt and uncle hosted almost all of our holiday dinners and tradition called for my twin sister, Jane, and me to hide away in Bec's room to catch each other up on gossip. Every family vacation was spent attached at the hip, from beaches to cabins to winding roads in the mountains. In many ways, I thought of Bec as the little sister I never had. But in others, she was far wiser than me. We were cousins, but also peers, friends, sisters and confidants for as long as I can remember. Bec taught us resilience through our worst days, and compassion for others experiencing theirs. Her journey with chronic illness was not easy. She heard abbreviated life expectancies from doctors and spoke to me about existing with the awareness that she would be outlived by many of her loved ones. I will never know the full weight of accepting that potentiality, just the immeasurable pain of missing her. Bec advocated the need for accessibility for chronic illnesses, disability rights, and animal welfare. She was a brilliant artist, with innate charisma, and an instinct to love deeply. I am so fortunate to have been loved by her, and so very proud of how authentically she lived. I can't summarize Bec in words, and I've tried to write this out enough times to know that. She is part of who I've become in a way that can never be safely extricated. Like the tree that grows around the stone, Bec will remain in the very heart of who I am forever. Bec, I love you through eternity, always, and even after that.
