I’m so sorry. Joanne was the best . I loved her. Always a smile and kind words. As her mail carrier, she was always quick to offer me cold water in summer and a place to warmup in winter. I will think of her often and will miss her terribly. Prayers to the family for strength and healing. God speed .

Joan was such a loving and generous person. Even though we didn’t see each other often after she moved from Columbus, Joan was a friend forever. I will always miss her presence and loving nature. She was the Wonderful daytime mom to my firstborn, Jeremy. Joan was always positive and upbeat and looked for the fun and happiness in everything. I love you Joan and Rick. Love, Cindy

Dear Rick and Lauren and Family , It was with extreme shock and deep sadness that we learned of Joan's passing . We know that there are no words at this time that help ease your grief and sorrow. The Summerwood friendship was an extraordinary thing ,lasting all these years. With each of us living in different areas of the country, we reconnected on Facebook several years ago . I always looked forward to finding new posts and pictures! May God bless all of you and may you gain comfort in knowing what a treasured person she was to so many .

A shining light has left our world and now we are in a darker place. That shining light was Joan Purnell. Joan was a Beacon Light for her family & friends. We hope to see Joan's Beacon Light when we need her to guide us thru these trying times and help us find our way. May your memory shine bright in all our hearts.
