Douglas Robert Hewlett, 73, a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army passed away peacefully September 10, 2021 with family by his side. Douglas was born February 25, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He leaves behind his son; Dustin J. Hewlett (Julie) of York, SC, daughters; Beth Ann Hewlett Benson of Pittsburgh, PA and Courtney Hewlett (Tony) of Myrtle Beach, SC; the grandchildren he adored, Brianna Benson, Aedan Hewlett and Lexi Hewlett.

Loving brother to Virgina Kotermanski – Swick (Bernie), Janet Bubenheim (Tim), Christine Hewlett, Robert Hewlett, Marcy Hewlett (Gail). Sister in laws; Carol Hewlett-Schneider and Mary Hewlett; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Howard Hewlett, Sr.; brothers, Howard Hewlett, Jr., David Hewlett, Leonard Hewlett; sister Romayne Hewlett. Douglas spent his life in the automotive service industry and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Sports Fan. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved to spend time with family and friends at the Magic Meadow.

Respecting his wishes, a private military graveside ceremony will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

To the Hewlett family: Tom and I feel the loss of your dad and brother. We know he was well taken care of with the love you gave him. Just keep his great smile and wonderful memories in your heart. Uncle Tom and aunt Joan.

Beth your father Douglas sounds like he was the best father. You can really tell how much he loved you by how you talk about him. His love will always be with you, sounds like he has a huge heart. May your memories stay alive for a long time. I’m sure he will be watching over his family. Praying for you all peace be with you all.

Good Bye Doug... U have left me with three amazing children. I wish things were different and you could of stay around longer to see them continue thru life and watch our grandkids spread their wings and grow. I will look out for them but will never be able to fill the emptiness they will have in their hearts for their father. You were loved so much and will be truly missed. RIP Dougie 😔
