Lawrenceville, GA – Daniel D. (Dan) Krasinski passed away at Northside Hospital Gwinnett, on November 21, 2021, at the age of 74, after a long illness. His best friend, Chriscinda Krasinski, and his daughter, Christine Fitz (Krasinski) were by his side. He was born on August 16, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA, but lived in a few other cities over his lifetime, including Washington, DC, Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA, Charleston, SC, Washington, PA and Atlanta, GA.

Dan was the youngest child of the late Edward Krasinski and Fern Krasinski (Drecnik). He was also preceded in death by his sister Annette Williams (Krasinski), brother-in-law Robert Williams, sister Cynthia Stensrud (Krasinski), brother-in-law Joseph McArdle, nephews Eric (Ricky) Williams, Philip Williams and Joe E. McArdle and a granddaughter, Jordan Routh. He is survived by his sister Barbara McArdle (Krasinski), brother-in-law Henry Stensrud, many nieces and nephews, his daughters; Christine Fitz (Krasinski) and Jennifer Routh (Krasinski), his grandchildren; Shayla Hoff (Krasinski-Hughes), London Fitz, Jacob Routh, Luke Fitz, Madison Routh and Lily Fitz (who is following in his footsteps as a member of the U.S. Navy), and four great grandchildren; Sophia Hoff, Lydia Hoff, Levi Hoff and Cameron Fitz.

A jack of all trades, his love for mechanical things started at a very young age. He bought his first car at the age of 14 and many more cars and motorcycles would follow. His favorite being the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, he owned a few. In his teenage years he worked as a mechanic before enlisting in the Navy in 1968. He served as a radioman during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1976. He then returned home to Pittsburgh and took over his father’s business as an electrician. In the late 1980’s he became a manager for Allied Electric and then an electrical buyer for the following companies; Chapman Corporation, Advantage Electric, Rome Electric and SNC-Lavalin. He relocated to the suburbs of Atlanta, GA in 2007 where he took a position as an electrical purchasing agent for Amec Foster Wheeler until his retirement in 2015.

He spent many hours in his meticulously kept garages where he worked on cars and motorcycles (both old and new), practiced woodworking, including furniture making, carpentry and all sorts of home improvement projects. His pride in his garage was apparent the minute one stepped a foot inside. Every tool had a place and chances are, that place also had a label on it.

He was always willing to volunteer his time to help his family and friends. He fixed their cars, remodeled their homes and was always available to give them advice or instruction regarding any of the topics at which he excelled. Like being able to list of every Mexican restaurant or Home Depot within a 50 mile radius or giving step by step instructions on how to install a ceiling fan while on speaker phone. Instant decaf coffee with Splenda was a daily pleasure. A weekend pleasure was a Corona with lime and a sip of Tequila.

As a certified scuba diver, he loved to travel to places where he could dive, Aruba being his favorite. Some of his favorite films were, Star Wars, Star Trek, James Bond and everything Clint Eastwood. On his television you would find one of three things, shows involving cars/motorcycles, talent shows showcasing singers and Steeler’s football.

Besides “jack of all trades” he also earned the title of “cat with 9 lives”. He escaped death many times over his 74 years including a motorcycle accident, getting cut by a malfunctioning circular saw and having a massive heart attack at the age of 57, just to name a few. His strong will, positive attitude and unfathomable fortitude carried him through life and helped him immensely over the last four years of cancer treatments, surgeries and complications from heart disease. He spent so much time in the care of doctors that he fancied himself one of them. He joked that he was a self-appointed physician and was also available for advice on matters of medicine.

His absence will be felt immensely by those that were closest to him, but the knowledge and advice he shared and all of his crazy stories will live on with them.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life service is being held Dec. 18, 2021, Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15136, 11:00 am.
