Lori Jean Ross, 41, of Canonsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Concordia Hospice, following a 9 month battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Lori was born on August 27, 1980, in Washington, PA, a daughter of P. Jean Ricciuti of Vestaburg, PA, and Kenneth A. Ross of Lowhill, PA.

She was a 1998 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School, and later earned a computer science degree at California University of Pennsylvania. Lori spent many years in the hospitality industry before going into business for herself. Lori had a passion and expertise in genealogy which, combined with her independent spirit, led her to co-found two companies, Land and Heir Consulting, LLC, and Land and Heir Solutions, Inc., both genealogy brokerages catering to the Oil and Gas Industry. Lori was well-regarded in the industry, respected for her thorough knowledge and business acumen.

One of Lori’s closest friends described her as a “technicolor fairy in a film noir world,” and all who knew her would surely agree. Lori’s pursuits of the enjoyment of life were both grand and small, and she was always up for the next adventure. She traveled Europe and around the U.S., being particularly fond of New Orleans. As a member of Club Leaf and Bean in Washington, PA, she could appraise cigars and wine with the most knowledgeable enthusiasts. Lori was a force of nature, a personality that enhanced any social gathering with her wry humor and inviting personality. She was unselfish in sharing her successes, and enjoyed creating experiences and memories with the ones she held closest.

Despite her numerous passions and successes, Lori’s true joy came from her only son, Leo. Together, with their family, they enjoyed traveling to Orlando, reading and collecting all things Harry Potter, and exploring the outdoors. Lori loved to foster his curiosities about the world, mathematics and music.  We are comforted knowing that the memory of Lori will forever remain a beacon of love, generosity, and guidance in Leo’s life.

Lori is survived by her partner of 16 years, Joseph Horvath, and their son, Leo Horvath. Also surviving are a mother, P. Jean Ricciuti; a father, Kenneth A. Ross (Tammy); beloved sister Christina Pucel (Joe Barno); nephews Julian, Oliver, and Noah, and a niece, Scarlett; a cherished cousin, Kim Impiccini McCrery; her partner’s family: Rebecca Cannon, Joseph Horvath,  Mona Horvath-Gutierrez (Hector), Logan Collins, Devin Zahand, Brandon Horvath; many other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins;  and two feline companions, Benny and Waffles.

Deceased are maternal grandparents, Patsy and Patricia (Booze) Ricciuti; and paternal grandparents, Andy and Mildred (Korbini) Ross.

A Celebration of Life memorial was held at Hugo’s restaurant on February 19th followed by a Second Line parade in the French Quarter of New Orleans on April 8th. pastedGraphic.png
