Kenneth Joseph Edwards

Kenneth Joseph Edwards, 75, formerly of Petersburg, NJ…peacefully on April 24, 2022, after a long and valiantly fought battle.

Ken was the beloved husband of Kathy Edwards who preceded him in death. He was the son of the late Joseph & Anna Edwards and the brother of Patricia Edwards.  He was the loving father of Amy (Mike) Giammatteo and Michael (Ali) Edwards.  Ken’s greatest joy was being Poppie to Mia, Michael, & Marco Giammatteo and Finley, Camden, & Lincoln Edwards.  His many nieces, nephews and greats brought him pride and happiness.

Ken served his country in Vietnam in the United States Army.He proudly wore what we affectionately called his “free breakfast hat” and welcomed every chance to shoot the breeze with fellow old timers.

Ken’s quick wit could always be found in a quiet corner of a crowded room.  New friends quickly learned that a seat by Ken guaranteed an entertaining time.  Although many tried, no one could match his knowledge of baseball statistics and trivia.  He could talk endlessly about his Yankees.

Ken wasn’t one for goodbyes, preferring to fade out without formality because when it was time to go it was time to go.  He will be missed by many.

Friends are welcome to join for a celebration of Ken’s life on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 12-3 pm at Josie Kelly’s, 908 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ.
