Alan Bruce Claffey, 71, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on July 6, 2026 due to natural causes. Alan was born on February 5, 1955 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Marion Elizabeth Rose and John “Jack” Edward Claffey. He was the stepson of James Matthew Ruk.

Alan graduated from Hampton High School and Dean Tech Electronics Institute. He was a service supervisor for Rollins Protection Service and then did commercial design and installation for Guardian Protection.

Alan will be remembered for his prankster ways, his knowledge of electronics and computers, his willingness to help a friend in need, and especially his love of fast cars – his latest being a Ford Mustang “Roush” 427R.

He is survived by his sister Cynthia “Cindy” (David) Newman; two nieces, Amanda (Paul) Herron and Melissa (Jesse) Thompson; and two great nephews, Matthew James Thompson and Nathan Walter Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Elizabeth (Rose) (Claffey) Ruk, his father, John “Jack” Edward Claffey, his brother Gary Mark Claffey, and his stepfather, James Matthew Ruk.

A private memorial service will be held a later date.

God can only show you the door, you have to walk through it.
