Allen Gregory Smith, 62 of Robinson Township, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020. He was born in Hanover, PA on July 6, 1958 and is the son of Dolores “Dolly” Smith Zepp and the late Raul “Ray” Smith.
Beloved husband of Susan Smith for 36 years; loving father of Savannah (Erik) Croushore, Lisa (Gary) Poppelreiter and Daniel Smith; brother of Wayne (Leigh) Smith, Chris (Debbie) Smith and Dominic (Georgie) Smith; adoring grandfather of Thomas Charles Croushore, Tyler Allen Croushore and Gary Frank Poppelreiter, Jr.; also, many nieces and nephews.
Allen graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for Duquesne Light Co for 19 years and also at the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant for a few years.
Allen loved cooking and eating, especially Chinese food and eating at the “O” in Oakland! He enjoyed movies (especially Marvel Comics and Monty Python), gardening, science fiction (Star Wars and Star Trek), drawing and photography, for which he won awards. His favorite artists were Styx, Abba, Jimmy Buffet and Elton John. He loved woodworking and building projects for his grandsons and was a frequent customer at Lowe’s where everyone knew him by name. He was the “King” of the “Dad Jokes”, treasured adventures and outings with his kids, and he would drop everything to help his family at any time. The ultimate family man, Allen was so proud of his wife, children and grandchildren.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. (Face masks are required) Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 9th at 10:30 am in Archangel Gabriel Parish Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 5718 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136 followed by interment in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Etna, PA. The family requests that everyone meet at the church on Friday just prior to Mass.
