Angeline DiSanti

  • On January 27, 2021

Angeline M. DiSanti, age 86, of Freedom, PA, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Affectionately known as “Din” or “Sunshine” to her beloved Eugene, “Mom” to her six children and their spouses, “Nanny” to her 13 grandchildren, and “Great-Grand-Nanny” to her four great-grandchildren, Angeline was a loving and overwhelmingly special gift to her family and loved ones.

Originally from New Castle, Angeline was a 1953 graduate of Shenango High School, after which she proudly entered the workforce. She married Eugene DiSanti in 1955 and the two began their life together: building their business, DiSanti ARCO Service, and raising six rambunctious, bright children. During those years, Ange enjoyed making clothes for her family, attending her bowling league, and playing pokeno with friends. After their children grew up and started having children of their own, Angeline and Eugene moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to their growing family.

Baker of the best bread, pizza, cavatelli, chocolate chip and wedding cookies; lover of the casino, “just-right” golden coffee, gum, Baileys, lively political discussions, her I-Pad, and talking to anyone and everyone on Facebook, Ange loved sharing life with those around her. During the last year of her life, Ange’s family was especially thankful for her “tech-savvy” ways which allowed her to impress with her online banking skills, video chat during the pandemic, and most recently, celebrate her 86th birthday virtually with her entire family. Though they would often find themselves talking at her ceiling, her children and grandchildren could still hear her ask what they were making for dinner, regardless of the time of day.

Ange was especially proud that, regardless of the temperature, she would still go on her daily morning walks (300 steps each way, to be exact). Nanny loved watching videos of her great-grandbabies, usually on repeat and at volume 15, offering you something to eat, no matter how many times you told her you weren’t hungry, and expressing her unconditional love to those around her, whether through a phone call, a warm home cooked meal, a crocheted blanket, or calling to let you know your birthdate came out on the lottery.

Though heartbroken, her family finds solace knowing that she will be reunited with her “sweetie” Eugene, who she has missed dearly every day since his passing in 2016. In our minds, they are swinging on their porch swing, together in heaven, laughing at their ridiculous family for missing them so incredibly much.

Angeline is survived by her 6 children, Marcie Knittel (Joe), Anthony DiSanti, Kathy DiLorenzo (Jeff), Stephanie DiSanti, Eugene DiSanti (Cheryl), and David DiSanti (Janene); 13 grandchildren, Michelle Morici-Knittel (Evan), Danielle McCommons, Chris DiLorenzo (Jackie), Joseph Knittel (Rita), Brittany Edgerton, Lisa DiLorenzo,  Tracy Knittel, Nicholas DiSanti, Maria DiSanti, Dustie DiSanti, Lexie DiSanti, Emily DiSanti, and Olivia DiSanti; and 4 great-grandchildren, Rory, Jack, Mack, and Sloan.  Angeline is also survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother, respectively:  Anne Meluso, MaryAnn Marzula (Sam), Roselee Caiazza (Francis), Nancy Elliott, and Charles Morrone (Patty)

Along with her husband, Eugene, Angeline was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Nancy Morrone, as well as four brothers, Paul, Anthony, Joe, and Emanuel (Junior) Morrone, one sister, Theresa Stockman, and her daughter-in-law, Pam DiSanti.

Private visitation entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township. Family and friends will gather at church for a 12:30pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St Margaret Mary Church 1 Parrish Place Moon Township, PA 15108. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to:
