Anna Marie David Smith of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, December 20, 2020, following a lengthy fight with cancer. She was 62 years old.

 

A lifelong resident of Canonsburg, she was born October 30, 1958, to David and Ruth Elizabeth Shepherd David.

 

She is survived by her son, Matthew (Cara) David; three grandchildren, Gavin, Xachary and Gwendolyn; her sisters, Katherine Boehmer, Mary (Reed) Rhoads and Jewell David; her brothers, James David and Charles David; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Smith. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and her brothers, John David, David R. David and Peter David.

 

Anna attended Canon-McMillan High School and she worked as a nurses’ aide before staying at home to become the caretaker and matriarch of her extended family.

 

Anna helped raise her two nephews and was known to everyone in the family as “Nana.” She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, celebrating holidays, learning about history, following the news, going to movies and musicals, and spending time with her dogs, Maggie and Ladybug. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

 

To honor Anna’s life, the family requests that you simply wear a mask, register to vote, and do a small act of kindness for someone this holiday season.
