Arlene McCurry, 93, of Peters Township, formerly of Monongahela, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
She was born on September 14, 1932, in Donora, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Leasure.
She was the loving wife of over 67 years to Fran McCurry, with whom she built a beautiful family; a cherished mother to Valerie (Marty) Colavincenzo, Kim (Ken) Leech, Craig (Brenda) McCurry, and Scott McCurry; a devoted Grandma to Dan (Tiffany) Colavincenzo, Kayla (Dan) McNamara, Kelly Colavincenzo, Kourtney (Matt) Weiss, Christa (Michael) Colavincenzo, Andrew McCurry, Rachel McCurry, and Justin McCurry; and a proud great-grandma to James McNamara and Owen McNamara.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis D. Leasure and Jean Leasure.
Arlene served as an excellent secretary (many skills including fast typing and shorthand) for the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) after graduating from Monongahela High School and Robert Morris Business School. She was a hard-working homemaker, supporting her children in school activities and cheering on her kids and grandkids at dance, drill team, baseball, golf, and soccer games, among many others. Arlene and Fran were dedicated fans who never missed a Peters Township or Pitt soccer home game. She was loved by all—including soccer parents, neighbors, and friends—and was known for making special, life-long bonds and friendships. Arlene also enjoyed playing and teaching bridge at church and at the Ridgecrest of McMurray Senior Living Community, where she also served as an Ambassador. She loved Johnny Mathis tunes, Jeopardy, Hallmark Movies, as well as dancing with her beloved husband, Fran.
She cherished holidays with loved ones and served as the ‘backbone’ of the family, always tender-hearted and in a good mood—she was truly an angel. She loved spending time with her WWI veteran father at the many Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades. She also enjoyed their many vacations in Arizona and numerous other places.
Family and friends will be received for viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 15, in Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, at St. Benedict the Abbott. Everyone please meet at the church.
Burial will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30 p.m.
