Armella C. (Henne) Opal, age 91 passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022. Born on January 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Florence and Aloysius Henne. Beloved wife to the late Richard L. Opal.  Loving mother of Cheryl (Thomas) Dudra of Eighty Four, Sandra (Salvatore) Sunseri of Mars, Richard M. Opal of Pittsburgh, Kimberly Opal of Pittsburgh and Michael (Jennifer) Opal of Harrison City. Cherished grandmother of Justin, Dana, and Kristin Dudra, Angela Ewing and Anthony Sunseri and Jordan and Michael Opal. Armella was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward, Albert and Norman Henne, Dolores Mackey and Ruth Gaber.

Mel, as she was known to her family and friends was a devoted mother and loving wife. She was also so many other things including a wonderful baker and a great conversationalist. She spent much of her life serving others as a waitress and as a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Among her interests, were gambling in many forms, especially bingo and card games, as well as fishing and country music. She had a love for all animals and will be missed by her devoted companion, Bella.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 2 PM – 6 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. AS OF SATURDAY JANUARY 15, THE MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL NOW BE ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2022 AT 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Animal Rescue.
