BernaDette Elaine Strong, age 67, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 5, 2026.

BernaDette was born on December 29, 1958, in Pittsburgh. She was the beloved daughter of the late Thom Strong and Mary Gibbs. She was the loving wife of the late Delmar Tate and a devoted mother to Brandon Sr., Leroy IV, Thomasina, and Catherine.

She is survived by her siblings William, Nannie, and Thomasene. She was preceded in death by her siblings Melvin, Thomasina, Nannie, James, Fred, Randy, Lydell, Credell, Mary, and Darlene.

BernaDette was a proud and loving grandmother to Joi, Reuben, Tamara, Leroy V, Brandon Jr., Raynell, Trevon, Yashua, Jaiden, Josiah, Reign, Christopher, and many more whom she loved deeply. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jonah, Tahir, and Jabari, along with nine additional adopted great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

BernaDette was a woman of many talents and interests. She obtained her CNA license from CCAC in Pittsburgh, attended and graduated from school for Horticulture, and earned a culinary degree from Muskingum Technical College. She enjoyed watching westerns, tending to her plants, and spending time with her family. Known for her kind and loving spirit, she always wanted the best for everyone around her. BernaDette was an amazing cook who loved to feed people and was especially known for making the best gravy in Pennsylvania—hands down.

Friends are welcome to gather on January 10, 2026, beginning at 12:00 P.M. at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care 5405 Steubenville Pike Robinson Township, PA 15136.Details regarding the repast will be announced by the family at a later time.
