Bernadette M. Jones (Elder) (Oris), of Peters Township passed away peacefully in the company of her loving husband and family, 5-25-18, at West Penn Hospital of complications of Leukemia. She is survived by her husband, best friend, and soulmate Richard J. Jones, son Marvin Elder, daughter Susan Ehrlich, grandchildren Christopher Channing, Katie Channing, Chelsea Tucker, and Breanna Elder. Great-grandchildren Juliette Channing, Annika Tucker, and Kyran Tucker. Brothers Richard Oris of St. Louis, and John Oris of Uniontown. Step grandchildren Robert Svobova, Danielle Dyba, and step great-grandchildren Olivia Svobova, and Silas Dyba.

She was born in Uniontown, PA. The 2nd of April 1946 the daughter of John and Catherine Oris, and graduated Uniontown High School in 1964.

Bernadette was an active and energetic woman who loved family and life. She worked her entire life beginning in the Pentagon, and retiring from US Steel. She taught water aerobics for thirty years and was a Master Scuba Diver. She was an avid traveler who loved water in all its forms and the lifestyle surrounding it. Her favorite times in life were with her friends and family, and relaxing on her back porch, she was at complete peace with life. Bernadette was a member of the St. Benedict the Abbot parish in McMurray, Benevolent Order of Elks, and the Aquatic Exercise Association for whom she wrote short inspirational articles.

She was a woman of beauty and grace, and much admired by all who met her, you bathed in her smile, she will leave a hole in the hearts of many. Rest in Peace our Queen.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 2-8pm at Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 724- 260-5546. A mass will be held in Bernadette’s honor Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10am at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, PA 15317, 724-941-9406.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bernadette’s name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 333 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

I will miss you forever Bernie. Life will not be the same for me. I will always remember those early morning talks we had most days while you were in the hospital. I truly never believed you would leave so quickly. You were always a great friend. Sis Jackie
