Bernard R. Hoffman, 78, formerly of the South Side, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home in Whitehall, on Thursday, January 5, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh on Feb 12, 1944, son of the late Mary Csajka. Beloved father of Bernie, Denise, and Craig Hoffman; grandfather of Ashley (Dan), Tyler, Christopher, and Zachary; great-grandfather of Nolan, Lorenz, Ryder, and soon to be born Harper. He is survived by his brother Larry (Alice) Hoffman and sister-n-law Pat Haid Hoffman.  He was preceded in death by his brothers William (Pat) and Yush Hoffman. Bernie is also survived by his former wife LaVerne Hoffman, special friend Pat Boeltz and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Bridges Hospice and Judy Price for their wonderful care.

Bernie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.  He retired as a Boilermaker from Local 154 after 34 years and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his sons and buddies. He always included the “19th hole”.  He loved his duckpin and ten pin bowling game, watching his Pittsburgh Steelers, bar bingo, Gianna Via’s, his weekly Park Valley visit with his lifelong friend Joe B, spending time at his Florida home with the greatest neighbors, he LOVED to be celebrated for his birthday,  and especially being the handyman for his “Foxwood Ladies”.  There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for anybody!  “EVERYBODY LOVED BERNIE”

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317 (724)260-5546. Burial with military honors will take place on Monday the 16th at 9 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at www.pittsburghcremation.com.
