Carl A. “Sonny” Masciola

Carl A. “Sonny” Masciola, age 90, of McKees Rocks, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He is the beloved husband of 48 years to the late Phyllis (Malecki) Masciola. Born on January 23, 1934 in Pittsburgh PA, he is the son of the late Palmerino and Angeline Masciola. Carl is the loving father of Lisa (Robert) Husak, Leslie DeSimone, and Robbin (Lee) Collins; cherished grandfather of Stephen Lampus and Aaron DeSimone; brother of Ida Fedyshyn, Ron Masciola and the late Ernie Masciola, Michael Masciola, Norma Crivelli, Eleanor Guszczynski, Palmer “Junior”Masciola, Dolores Geier , and Mary Delmonaco; and also many nieces and nephews.

Carl served in the United States Army in Korea from 1956-1958. Upon return, he began a career in the automotive industry where he was very successful and won awards that allowed him and Phyllis to travel the world. Carl was actively involved in his community, notably participating in the Italian Heritage Parades around Pittsburgh where he showcased his pride in his heritage. He loved to sing, dance, and enjoyed his circle of friends and family. He was deeply loved and cherished by his family, especially his daughters, whom he cared for dearly throughout his life.

Family and friends will gather for committal prayers and military honors at 1:30pm on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road Bridgeville, PA 15017. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association http://Act.alz.org.

To the family of Leslie Desimone, and her family of this wonderful man. Sir, we may never have met in this lifetime. But we know that our children are a reflection of the parents. Leslie is my co worker in Florida. As, you leave this life to your life above. Please know you have done a job well done and we salute you.
