Carol “Cheech” (Churik) Capristo, 86, of Scott Township, passed away April 15, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by her three sons, Dano, Roman, and Marco.

She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Carol took great pride in her family and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Dano and his wife Jana; her son Roman and his wife Terra, along with his children Luke, Gia, and Kade (with their mother, Wendy); and her son Marco and his wife Susy, and their son Gianni, who brought her immense joy as a cherished grandmother.

Carol had a special love for gathering her family together, especially for her beloved Sunday dinners, where her warmth and cooking brought everyone close.

She enjoyed a long and successful career as a hairdresser and, alongside her late husband, Bruce Capristo, founded Capristo Salon in Shadyside. Together, they built not only a business, but a life rooted in partnership, love, and dedication.

A woman of strong faith, Carol found comfort and community at Saint Simon and Jude Church. She was known by many as a kind and gentle soul with a big heart, and she treasured the friendships she formed, especially while socializing with friends at Virginia Mansions Condominium.

She loved to read and enjoyed learning about health and medicine. She also liked to play games such as solitaire, always keeping her mind active and sharp.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray, PA.

My condolences to Cheech's family. We were friends and neighbors for many years as kids. We lived next door to each other until I married and moved away. She was a sweet and funny friend.

To the loving Family of Cheech, We were also blessed by God with this unique and special lady nearly our lives long. Bruce and I were classmates in Beauty school and went on to be together with our soon to be spouses in Catholic marriage classes. This unshakable bond of friendship has lasted more than 62 years without interruption. It has carried on through our children, grandchildren and out to our extended family as well on the totally new frontier of football rather than cosmetology. Cheech was so proud of you all. An icon in Pittsburgh for style and elegance she continued to produce, innovate, and elevate while others had long since retired. Her indomitable spirit kept her going through the struggles with her health of late that couldn’t get her down. She especially had a keen fondness for raw Kibe and my son would always make sure to get the two dear old friends together for her to enjoy that and the company of each other. Fortunately we were just able to do so this past Fall. Cheech was bigger than life and will be sorely missed by many. Please accept our most sincere condolences, Marie and Family
