Carol Ann (Darcy) Wockley, 78, a resident of Washington Pa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 30, 2024.

Beloved wife of Thomas J. Wockley, Sr, for 57 years; loving mother of Thomas J. (Barb) Wockley, Jr and Mark A. (Kimberly) Wockley; cherished grandmother of Rebecca, Brenden, Allison, Kate, and Shane Wockley. She took particular joy in watching her grandchildren grow into adulthood. As the mother of boys, she prized her loving relationship with her sons’ wives. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas V. and Thersea Darcy, and her brothers, Chuckie and Thomas P. Darcy.

Carol was a wonderful mother, always encouraging her son’s and grandchildren’s pursuits in sports and other activities; she enthusiastically supported them at events from grade school to grad school. As someone who had great compassion for others, Carol made a mid-life career change, obtaining her nursing degree from Shadyside School of Nursing and becoming a Registered Nurse. Carol loved life, enjoying time with family and friends, baking cookies (always keeping a secret stash of pizzelles), rooting on Pittsburgh’s sports teams, and playing cards and dominos. Although she will be deeply missed by family and friends, we celebrate the gift of Carol’s life, and the joy she brought to those of us blessed to have known her.

Carol’s deep Catholic faith always guided her. A devoted member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church – St. Oscar Romero Parrish, she took great pride in participating in Christian Mothers and also volunteered at the church’s foodbank. She had a wonderful devotion to the Blessed Mother, saying daily roseries and she often visited assisted living facilities with the parish priest to lead the rosery for the patients. Carol was a great example of someone who put her faith into action.

At Carol’s request, casual attire for the viewing is suggested.

Family and Friends are welcome for a visitation on Wednesday September 4, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00 am on Thursday September 5, 2024 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal – St. Oscar Romero Parish, 300 Pike Street, Meadowlands, PA 15347. Everyone please meet at the church. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.

In lieu of flowers, Carol has requested a donation to the American Cancer Society Donation

Carol's Family: When I think of Carol, an outstanding warrior and friend immediately comes to mind. What a strong person she will always be as she left us such a great example of what it means to persevere with a smile, endure with grace, recognize all that is a gift in the moment, and stay steadfast in your faith. She sent cards to uplift and thank others, while ill herself, and somehow never seemed to lose that gratitude for those around her in PA or across the country in Kansas, even in dire circumstances. It is a privilege to know her through my Auntie Carolyn and Uncle Larry, whom I adore and know they are already missing her presence with us, and through cards which she took the time to send. I am so grateful to God for Carol. Tom, what a lovely, intelligent, and beautiful (inside and out) wife. We will see her again, where there is no pain, no suffering and only the joy of the reunion and our homecoming while celebrating our Savior. Praying for the peace that surpasses all understanding from our Lord Jesus Christ. Well done good and faithful servant Carol.
