Caroline A. Ravenstahl, age 70, of Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 3, 1952 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy Fitzgerald Calpin.  She was a 1970 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a graduate of Kent State University with a MBA in Marketing.  Before retiring, she worked for several technology companies in Pittsburgh.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 30 years, Howard Mark Ravenstahl, who was her steadfast supporter and wonderful caregiver during her lengthy, devastating illness.

Caroline was an amazing woman who loved her family.  The autumn season and vacations near water were some of her favorite things.  A great listener, a problem solver, and an expert organizer were some of her many attributes.  She could plan family hayrides, donut decorating & ice cream socials for the neighborhood children, pumpkin carving parties and most anything else to gather people round to celebrate.

Her head was full of knowledge, her heart full of love, and her hands were always willing to help anyone in need.  She was a blessing to all who had the privilege to be touched by her.  She will be loved; she will be missed; she will be quoted; and she will always be celebrated!

She is survived by her sisters Mary Louise Musi, Barbara (Al) Casanta, and a brother Thomas (Patricia) Calpin.  Also, her mother-in-law Barbara (Mark) Thompson, and brothers-in-law Timothy (Heather) Ravenstahl and Matthew (Nia) Ravenstahl.  Holding her in their hearts are many loving nieces & nephews, numerous great nieces & great nephews, cousins, very special friends Olivia, Anthony, and Vincent Markulin and friends too many to count.

In addition to her parents, Caroline was preceded in death by her infant brother Dick, sister-in-law Jan Calpin, brother-in-law Tom Musi, and father-in-law Rev. Howard M. Ravenstahl.

A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospitals Caroline frequented over the past year.  In addition, thanks to Canterbury Place Hospice for the recent and dedicated care of Caroline in her final days.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Caroline from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday, July 24th at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care located at 5405 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 25th at 10am at Archangel Gabriel Parish (St. Malachy Church) located at 343 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108. Everyone please meet at church.

In lieu of flowers, Caroline’s family would like any contributions to take the form of memorial tributes in Caroline’s name to Be The Match:

I am so saddened to just learn of Caroline’s passing in July. I am 6 months her senior… yet still, it seems way too soon. I was vacationing in Pittsburgh in July and deeply regret not reaching out then… My condolences to the family. A great mind and heart is lost to us. Kris
