Carolyn Joyce (Pivovar) Stepp, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 in the Donnell House, guided by her angels and surrounded by her loving family after a 5 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.  Carolyn was born at home on Christmas day, 1935 to the late Victor and Helen (Yager) Pivovar of Vesta Six.  She had one sister, Connie (Pivovar) Handlowich (deceased).

Carolyn graduated in 1953 from Centerville High School and on June 27, 1954 married Kay L Stepp of Marianna.  They made their lifelong home in Scenery Hill, PA where they raised 2 sons, David Stepp (Port Alleghany, PA), Alan (Judy) Stepp (Scenery Hill, PA) and 1 daughter, Audra Stepp (Boynton Beach, FL).  Carolyn is survived by 3 grandchildren, David (Melissa) Stepp Jr (Port Alleghany, PA), Aaron Stepp (Boynton Beach, FL), Amanda Stepp (Sterling, VA) and 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Marrisa, Allison and Dalton Stepp, all of Port Alleghany, PA.  She is also survived by 2 nieces and 8 nephews.

Carolyn worked for over 25 years in the Bethlehem Center School District where she retired in 2005 as secretary in the High School Guidance office.  She loved her work at the school and the interaction with the students who came into her office.  She was an avid reader, often reading several books in a matter of a week.  Also a great cook, she was often awarded Blue Ribbons for her entries in the Washington County Fair for her homemade buns.  She loved to make crafts and to decorate her beloved country home inside and out with treasures she found at yard sales and flea markets.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services.  Carolyn only wanted those that knew and loved her to remember her when she was alive and well.  Arrangements are entrusted to Cremation and Funeral Care of McMurray, PA.

One of Carolyn’s favorite charities was The City Mission and her favorite pastime was reading.  The family requests any memorial contributions made in her memory to: The City Mission, 84 West Wheeling St., Washington, PA 15301, or the Marianna Library, 247 Jefferson Ave, Marianna, PA 15345.
