Carrie Davis of McMurray died on December 26, 2022 at age 89. Carrie leaves behind her husband Alan, children Tracy and Peter (and wife Diane), grandsons Philip Davis and Jack Davis, niece Lana Frye and life-long best friend Friedia Gaby. Cause of death was natural causes associated with old age.
Carrie Lou Justis was born to a farming family in Greene County, Tennessee. Her parents were David and Mary Mae (Smith) Justis. Carrie went to high school in Greeneville, Tennessee where she played on the girls’ basketball team. After high school, she went to Greeneville Business School. After business school, she went to Washington to work for the US Navy group headed by Admiral Hyman Rickover. There she met her future husband, an engineer working for a Navy contractor. Her husband’s work assignments led to her living in Idaho Falls, Idaho and Cohasset, Massachusetts before returning to western Pennsylvania and permanence in Washington County. Carrie and her husband moved into a just-completed new home in 1961, where she lived the rest of her life.
After her husband’s retirement, Carrie satisfied a life-long urge to travel. She and her husband visited Honolulu, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Lichtenstein. Having had her fill of travel, Carrie settled for life in Washington County, with winters spent in Jupiter, Florida. She loved riding the auto-train up and down the East coast for the annual Florida winter sojourn. Carrie and her husband owned an apartment in Jupiter, where they spent 25 consecutive winters. Having grown too old to make the annual trip south, they gave up the Florida residence and settled for all-year residence in Washington County.
Carrie was cremated by Pittsburgh Crematory of McMurray. There was no visitation and there will be no memorial. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
