Charles A. Crates, age 91, of Bethel Park, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, October 5, 2020. Born on May 8, 1929, he was the son of the lates Mildred and Ambrose Crates. Beloved husband Audrey McClain Crates. Loving father to Dave (Denise) Crates of Clifton Park, NY, Doug Crates of Bentleyville, PA, Paul Crates of Baltimore, MD, and Amy (Greg) Treu of Rocky Top, TN. Cherished Bappy of Emily, Zachary, Tyler, Andrei, and Vera. Loving brother to Jim (Janet) Crates of Oregon and Beth Killian of Florida. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He was also an active member in the Methodist church. Charles was an avid reader and Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and he will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. .
