Cheryl “Cheri” Dawn Abel, age 67, of Peters Township, PA, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026.
Born on July 7, 1958, in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of Ralph and Mary Faith Conrad. Cheri was the beloved wife of 49 years to Harold Abel, whose love and companionship were the foundation of her life.
Cheri was a woman who lived with warmth, energy, and a true love for others. She was a member of the Hackett Club in Finleyville and proudly served her community as a former EMT with the Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Cheri had a caring spirit that touched many lives.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sewing, reading, cooking, and baking for those she loved. Cheri was especially known for her famous “slop cake,” a treat that became a cherished favorite among family and friends. A devoted grandmother, she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and took great pride in her family.
Cheri also had a spontaneous and adventurous side. She loved last-minute trips and was always ready to jump in the car and go wherever the road might lead, creating lasting memories along the way.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and the love she so freely gave to those around her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. Memorial contributions in Cheri’s name may be made to Muscular Dystrophy https://giving.mds.org
