Colette Laura Brown, age 58, of Ross Township went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2022, surrounded by family. She fought a valiant 14-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Born on June 17, 1964, in Pittsburgh, she is the daughter of the late Paul and Maureen Locke. Beloved wife of Kevin Brown. Loving mother of Krista (Beau) Rattigan. Devoted grandmother of Bennett Rattigan. Cherished sister of Lizanne Parker, Paul (Marjorie) Locke, Dianne (Bill) Krivanek, Michael (Anna Marie) Locke, and Colleen (Michael) Barcaskey. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Blessed with great beauty and a captivating personality, Colette always made an impression. After a nearly 20-year career in the dental field, Colette obtained a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and graduated from Carlow College, summa cum laude. A mathematics teacher at Mt. Lebanon High School for 22 years, she truly loved her role as a teacher and mentor to students. In her personal life, Colette treasured her daughter, Krista, son-in-law Beau, and her grandson, Bennett. She cared lovingly for her dogs, Daisy, and Milo. Colette had many interests, including cooking, baking, gardening, and decorating. She was skilled at crocheting and made many afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed family beach vacations in the Outer Banks. Colette was a devout Catholic and found great strength in her faith as she faced her health challenges.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM St. John Neumann Church, 2230 Rochester Road, Pittsburgh PA 15237. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 PM at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Rd, Canonsburg, PA 15317.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition www.ovarian.org.

Colette will be missed in our neighborhood. Her love of family was obvious. I will miss seeing the joy on her face when she was with her grandson Bennett and how caring she was. My heart goes out to Kevin and Krista as you mourn such a wonderful person.
