David Allen Munoz 64, of Aliquippa, PA and Hayward, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 28, 2022. Beloved husband of Jacki Merin Munoz for 36 years; cherished father of Brian David (James), Jessica Leigh (Corey), and Jennifer Rae (Tyler).

Born April 19, 1957, in Walnut Creek, CA, he was the son of Dianne Nelson and Cas Munoz, Jr. (Barbara); dear brother of Linda Munoz, uncle to Kyle Mickey (Jazmine), son-in-law to Enid Merin, brother-in-law of Stevi and Steve (Ashley, Alex) Tracas, Steven and Marsha (Michael, Joanna, Kenny) Merin; also survived by countless wonderful friends who became family. Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law Murray Merin, his uncle Thomas Munoz, grandparents Casimiro and Fermina “Rubby Dubby” Aloquia Munoz, and grandparents Nick and Astrid “Jean” Nelson.

Dave was an outstanding athlete who started playing baseball as a youth and in high school before transitioning to golf in college and ultimately competing on regional mini tours.  He experienced a lot of success, but his biggest thrill and greatest pride in life was his family – he coached all three of his children on many different levels. Dave bravely battled cancer for 7 years, going through very difficult times but never losing hope. Although he couldn’t continually enjoy his favorite activities due to his illness, he didn’t take a single shortcut and lived every moment to the fullest until the very end.

Dave was an amateur pilot, a golf coach at Moon High School and later Robert Morris University, even in his final weeks. Most recently, he became a published author. Dave’s book (I WAS THERE! My Journey Through Classic Rock in San Francisco) chronicles his love of classic rock in the late 1970’s in San Francisco; it was published on December 28, 2021. Dave was always known to have many fun-loving stories of his younger years that his friends and family loved listening to. Dave almost always took the road less traveled and had very few regrets. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A memorial service for Dave will be held at Impact Christian Church, 330 Hookstown Grade Rd., Moon Township, PA on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 4 PM and followed by light refreshments. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, Pennsylvania.

My deepest sympathies to you Jacki and your family. May Dave rest in eternal peace with the Lord. Couple weeks ago when I was walking the dog early in the morning I heard birds singing, I thought that sounded so magnificent and they were at your home. Then I thought glorious angels are with Dave.

Jacki and family, My heart and prayers are with you today as I can’t attend. Still trying to find the words for my own emotions, nothing compared to yours I am sure. Dave, aka ‘Super Dave’ was always one that I kept as one of my true friends. I’ll keep his memories alive with me and know that our paths will cross again and it will be just as fond as our time together here. He will be deeply missed. With sincere condolences. Boom.
