Dear Bobbie, David and Matthew, We are so saddened to hear of this tragic news. In any other year, I would be there with you, so I want to share some happy memories of my lifelong friend. Any time I hear the first 3 chords to Bennie and the Jets, I am immediately transported to Dave picking me up in his car and driving us to high school with him delightedly singing along. I remember the time Dave met me in Florida and us sneaking into Busch Gardens and us laughing for days. As young men we comforted each other through broken hearts. I was pleased to share the stage with Dave and his band at Graffiti. Most recently, I recall Dave telling me about his retirement and his newest culinary hobby with his infectious delight. I will always remember his hearty uninhibited beautiful laugh. It was a laugh that made you happy to be a comedian, and I will never forget it. Most of all I will remember Dave as a cherished and loyal friend, who's love and support sustained the twists and turns of life. I will love him and miss him with you.

Bobbie, I’m so sorry for your loss. I will always remember seeing Dave at the airport or flying with him, and never forget his upbeat personality and incredible sense of humor. He was so thoughtful, always asking how Chris and I were doing. I knew when Dave was my Captain, I was safe and had the support of a true professional. I know that with God's grace and all the thoughts and prayers of the many people you both touched, will help you through this difficult time. May God give you peace and strength.

Dear Bobbie; I met you once long ago and visited your home in Peters along with John Griffin, and haven't seen Dave for 30 years. However, I was lucky enough to be a good friend of Dave while in high-school and for several years after that. We ran together in Track and Cross Country in High School and spent a lot of time in the little Cessna 172. Dave was one of those popular, talented, smart young people that never let the popularity go to his head. He was humble despite his talents and good nature. He was a great man. I am so sorry for your loss. I've said a prayer for him and will undoubtedly say more. Please leave my condolences to Scott as well. Deepest Regards, Dan Roehm Layton, UT

To Bobbie and the entire Copeland family: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Dave through USAir, and flew many trips with him on both the DC-9 (at least a couple that I recall you were on as well, Bobbie) and the A-320. Dave was always so pleasant to work with; I always enjoyed my trips with him over the years. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Best regards, David Palmer

How very sad to hear another friend of the 1974 PTHS graduating class has crossed over. My most sincere & heartfelt condolences to Bobbie & sons. Makes me so very unhappy. I will miss Dave's smile, his winning cross-country running abilities & his positive outlook on life. Lost track of Dave over the years; but, I kept up with his flying career through another PTHS grad, Mark Leazenby. Farewell, my friend. God's blessings on your family.

Dear Bobbie and Family, Please let me add my condolences. I had worked with Dave for a long time. His passing comes as a shock to us all. I saw him just recently in the veterinarian's parking lot where he had Mitzi on his lap and we talked at length about his enjoying retirement. That chance meeting and his dynamic personality brightened up the day for me. I hadn't seen him since he retired and it was good to catch up. We had a lot of good trips together. He was a pilot's pilot and I usually learned something new every time I flew with him. I remember the time we got stranded in San Juan; me without my suitcase. He literally lent me the shirt off his back so we could go out and get dinner. It was always interesting talking to him about flying or whatever project or endeavor he was in the midst of. We talked about getting together soon to share some common interests. It is with great sadness that this cannot be. My family's hearts and prayers are with you.
