David John “DJ” Grecco J.D., 53 of Peters Township, formerly of Mt. Lebanon and Baldwin Boro. Beloved husband of Christy (Ross) Grecco. Devoted father to Dante E. Grecco (mother – Tamara (Rzepka) Grecco) passed away with grace in the arms of his wife and son after winning a four plus year battle with cancer. Born in the city of Pittsburgh that he loved, he was a miracle baby to his late parents Ernest S. and Carmela (Pizzuto) Grecco. Adoring brother to Patti  Bonagiano; predeceased by siblings Ernie, Jr., Barbara J. and Theresa M. Grecco. Loving brother-in-law to Peter Bonagiano, John and Becky Skrabski, Robb and Jennifer Ross and special son-in-law to Donald and Gail Ross. He will be remembered fondly for his courageous spirit and his big heart by his nieces and nephews Lauren and Andrew Ogburn, Erin Skrabski and fiancé Justin Smith and Matthew, Rachel and Brandon Ross.

David graduated from Baldwin High School in 1984, received his undergraduate degree from Robert Morris 1988. He entered the workforce as a CPA and then decided to pursue a career in law. He attained his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University Law School 1997.

David had a successful career at prestigious accounting and law firms where he made many lifelong friends – Doug, Dean and David E. among others.

Cancer has a way of taking away so much, but David focused on the many blessings that evolved from such a grim diagnosis. During his battle, he enjoyed unexpected vacations, reconnecting with old friends, Maxwell Barkley, his “battle buddy dog,” visiting colleges with his son, attending Penguins, Pirates and Steelers games, a new bike, a boat ride on the 3 Rivers and the Justin Timberlake concert where he was the only man in the box. He also loved visiting neighbors, Anne, Stellani and Chris, or simply enjoying his home that he loved so much. He made the most of everyday because he knew that every day was a gift.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 12 PM – 8 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 10 AM at St. John XXIII (formerly St. Benedict the Abbot), 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, PA 15317. Everyone please meet at the church. Entombment will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Please remember and celebrate David by appreciating family and friends, good health and a fabulous bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

Condolences to all. David had a wonderful sense of humor, and I enjoyed working with him and the continuation of our friendship thereafter. He showed great courage and character during his multi-year battle with cancer, and was always in good spirits when we talked. I miss him already and always will. May God comfort his family during this grievous time.

My heartfelt condolences on the loss of a great guy. We were friends in high school where we had a couple classes together and he was always just a friend to all and a fun guy to be around. Prayers of comfort to you all in this extraordinarily difficult time.

Christy and Dante, I am so sorry and saddened by your loss. DJ (as I knew him in high school) was always so full of life, funny and kind. You will be kept in my prayers. DJ - I'm toasting you, the Penguins and the best "Hipcheck" my friend!

I've known DJ since grade school. He and my brother have been lifelong friends and DJ and I worked briefly together in my father's store. While I relocated years ago and hadn't seen DJ in long while, I will always remember him for that infectious smile that lit up his eyes and the room. He so loved people and life. My brother has shared with me DJ's health struggles and his years-long fight for life. What a warrior. What a friend. What a man. My sincere condolences.

DJ was always smiling (high school) and such a good guy. My deepest sympathy.
