Dean Molter

In Loving Memory of Dean Molter. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Dean Molter on May 17th, 2023.  Dean was a beloved husband to Jacqueline Molter, son of Shelby and Janet Molter, brother of David Molter.  He is survived by David’s wife, Maithilee Menezes, and niece and nephews Michelle, Bryan, and Sanjiv.  His cousins Russel Anderson, Larry Anderson, Larry’s wife Linda, niece Emily, and nephew Ryan are grieving his loss.  He is survived by Jacqueline’s father, Jack Ewart, and his wife, Pat.  He is survived by brother-in-law Kevin Ewart and his wife Debra, along with their daughter Nicollette Lopez and her husband, Aaron Lopez, and their children Brody, Sophia, and Olivia.  Dean’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dean spent his formative years growing up in Japan, Thailand, and later Hong Kong and Curaçao, where he developed a love for different cultures and a sense of adventure.  Though he moved early on, in 1992, he settled in Pittsburgh, and this is where he called home. Dean had a passion for travel and dedicated his career to ensuring the safety of others as a flight dispatcher.  With a keen eye for detail and a calm demeanor, he excelled in his role, diligently keeping people safe and traveling efficiently in the fast-paced aviation industry.  He started with Piedmont Airline in Boston in 1986.  This later became USAir, then US Airways, and eventually American Airlines.  His commitment to his work was commendable, and his impact on countless lives was immeasurable.

With Jacqueline by his side, they traveled the world together.  Their journeys included Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, St Martin and countless U.S. cities and national parks. He had a lifetime of affection for sports.  This was grounded by the early days of baseball coached by his father.  In high school, he wrestled and played baseball, lacrosse, and hockey.  His passion was hockey.  He played for Hawthorne College and throughout his adult life.

While living in Pittsburgh, Dean became an avid fan of the Pittsburgh professional teams, including the Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers, supporting them with unwavering loyalty.  His devotion to sports was infectious, and he reveled in the victories and shared the disappointments with fellow fans. When he wasn’t working or cheering for the Penguins, Dean found solace in the game of golf.  He became an integral part of the Kingsmill Golf Tournament as a Marshall with his father and brother on the 3rd hole.  His dedication and enthusiasm were evident as he guided players and spectators, ensuring the smooth flow of the tournament.  Dean’s presence added a touch of joy and camaraderie to the golfing community.

Beyond his interests and achievements, Dean’s character was defined by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his wife and friends.  He had an infectious sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a warm smile to brighten someone’s day.  Dean was a pillar of support for his loved ones, offering a listening ear, sage advice, and unconditional love whenever it was needed. Dean Molter will be remembered as a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many.  His legacy of dedication, sportsmanship, and love will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Though Dean’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  May he rest in eternal peace. Life celebration(s) anticipated, but not too soon.  We know there may be some coming quite a distance.
