Deborah “Debbie” Baumgardner, age 74, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025.

Debbie was born on August 10, 1951 in Washington, PA. She was the daughter of the late Mary and Howard “Jim” Shanks.

She was the beloved and devoted wife of Allan “Alley” Baumgardner, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Debbie was a loving and dedicated mother to Kelley Baumgardner and Brandon Baumgardner, and a cherished grandmother—affectionately known as “Nunnie”—to her grandsons Jordan, Tyler, and Connor. She was also a proud “Nunnie the Great” to her great-grandsons Houston, Xander, and Luca, with two more great-grandsons, Jayce and Chase, joyfully expected in 2026.

A woman with a heart of gold, Debbie was known for her selflessness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She devoted over 20 years as a gymnastics instructor, sharing her passion through playful parenting at Gym Dandy’s and generously giving her time working with gymnastics programs for the Special Olympics. Debbie also served as the manager of the City Mission Thrift Store, where her kindness and leadership touched many lives.

In accordance with Debbie’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life will be held in 2026, with details to be announced once finalized.

Debbie’s legacy of love, generosity, and joy will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Debbie was a nonjudgemental generous person. She was wonderful to we volunteers at the City Mission as well as the nearby residents who came into the store. She created a comfortable neighborhood space for everyone who entered our store.
