DEBRA MASLEY (Porta), of Bethel Park, born March 16, 1952, was a joyful and devoted servant of the Lord until her passing on May 7, 2017 when she succumbed to cancer. Diagnosed in June of 2016, Debbie was determined to live and enjoy each God- given day, cherishing her best friend and husband, Steve, her sons, Joshua (Kelly) and Seth (Ashley Tate), and her granddaughter, McCauley Masley.

Debbie, originally from Robinson Township, began her relationship over 50 years ago with her husband, Steve.  They married in 1974 and moved to their current residence in Bethel Park in 1977.  Shortly thereafter they joined the John McMillan Presbyterian Church where Debbie became active with the youth groups and music ministries.  She taught aerobics throughout Bethel Park for many years and was known for logging many miles on the Montour Trail until shortly before her death.

She devoted her career to public education, serving the Bethel Park School District’s special needs students, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s personnel and business departments, and finally serving as Assistant to the Superintendent of the Clairton City Schools.  Upon her retirement, Debbie devoted more time to her beloved John McMillan Presbyterian Church in which she raised her sons, sang in the Chancel Choir and as a soloist, directed the children’s Carol Choir, and readied the sanctuary for worship services.

Debbie was joyfully committed to her family, speaking to her sons several times a week, taking trips with her husband, and sharing her love of sewing and reading with her granddaughter. Debbie is additionally survived by three sisters Kate Caliguiri (Robert), Cindy Gigante (Wayne), Bobbi Rokicki (Walt) and her mother, Thelma “Mickey” Porta, and was pre-deceased in 2014 by her father, Bill Porta. She additionally leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and her JMPC church community. Special thanks to Family Hospice of Mt. Lebanon for the truly loving care provided to Debbie and her family during her final days.  A memorial service will be held at the John McMillan Presbyterian Church, 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John McMillan Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in Debbie’s name.

My most sincere sympathy to Debbie's family. I met Debbie through the emails that all Administrative Assistants sent when requesting information and she was always quick to answer and make you smile. Please know that I'll keep all of you in my prayers. God's blessings always.

It was my pleasure to have worked with Mrs. Masley here at Clairton. She was always helpful and devoted to her work. She had a contagious smile and greeted you with the utmost kindness. I am so very sorry for the family's loss at home and at Clairton. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Please accept my condolences on Deb's passing. I worked with her at Clairton and she was one of the kindest, and funniest, people that I have ever worked with. She spoke of her family often and without a doubt, they were her number one priority. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie was a beloved coworker at Clairton School District. She worked so hard for the staff and students at Clairton. We shared many laughs and stories with one another. Clairton was lucky to have her here. My sympathies to the family. You are in my prayers.
