Dolores Guarini, 96, of Pittsburgh passed away with family by her side on November 10, 2025.
Dolores was born on August 24, 1929 and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, daughter of the late Felix and Laura (Codianne) Guarini.
She is survived by her devoted sister Rosemary D’Ambrosi of Waterbury; her loving children Lauren Campedelli of Los Angeles, Mary Beth Postufka (Dennis) of Pittsburgh, and Christian Campedelli of Pittsburgh; and her beloved grandchildren William, Samantha, and Joseph Postufka. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her former husbands, Frank Campedelli and Allen Mandel.
Dolores led a full, rich, and varied life. She entered Mount Saint Mary’s Abbey of Wrentham, Massachusetts, at the age of 17, where she lived, worked, and prayed as a novice for five years.
She became an educator, first as a Montessori School teacher, and then later in her career as a professor of sociology at Duquesne University. In between and while raising three children in Butler and Pittsburgh, PA, Dolores earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and ultimately a doctorate in psychiatric social work. Throughout her psychotherapy career, she worked in group practices, educational institutions, and lastly in private practice in Mount Lebanon, PA. She finally retired at 92 years old!
Dolores loved to travel, including China, Europe, North Africa, and throughout the U.S. She was an avid theatergoer and especially loved the theater trips to London organized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She had a refined artistic nature, which was reflected in her wardrobe and jewelry, her home design and art decor. Her curiosity led her to varied new learnings, from Reiki healing to jewelry making, and more.
Dolores was well loved in her condominium community in Greentree as a warm, generous, caring neighbor. This sweet little lady also had a sly sense of humor if you got to know her.
Family and friends are welcome to a memorial mass on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon, PA, 15234, (412) 531-5964.
