Donald Paul Kemmler, 73, of Whitehall, PA, passed away January 29, 2022, after a brief battle with COVID-19.

Don was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Paul Kemmler and Jean (Dailey) Kemmler Stuckey on July 3, 1948. He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1966 and went on to attend Youngstown State University. On April 12, 1969 he married Jeanne (Shelby) Kemmler of Girard, OH.

He proudly served in the Air Force for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. He worked for South Hills Computer Center for 20 years before joining RPS (now FedEx) as an IT Specialist in 1986. He retired from FedEx in spring of 2013, and stayed connected with his work friends with a monthly lunch date. Retirement also meant many Jeep adventures with Jeanne, usually ending with a stop for strawberry milkshakes.

Being the “Don” of the Kemmler family was his favorite role. Don loved Jeanne’s cooking regardless of what restaurant she chose. His grandchildren could always count on Grandpa to attend every life event, documenting the moments with pictures and grainy videos postedto Facebook, or sharing with anyone who might take an interest. He cherished every family gathering. Don enjoyed bowling, softball and golf. He was an avid sports fan, and held season tickets to both the Steelers and Pirates for many years. Don and Jeanne made an annual trip to Bradenton, FL, to watch the Pirates at spring training.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jean. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; sisters Linda (David) Dick and Judy Anders; sons Jeff (Marla), Scott (Tamara), and Dan (Maggie); nine treasured grandchildren: Ryan, Adam, Justin (Faith), Ethan, Michael, Shelby, Emily, Preston, and Gabriel; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317 from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, February 2nd.

Military Honors Burial will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017 promptly at 10 am on Thursday, February 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Akron Children’s Hospital, One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062. Condolences may be left in Don’s online guestbook at pittsburghcremation.com.
