Donald Ray Wingett, 80, of Pittsburgh, PA entered into eternal peace on March 30, 2026.

Born on August 20, 1945 in Washington, PA, he was the son of the late Edythe and Charles Wingett. Beloved partner of Carol Neely, loving father of Donnica Rae Wingett, dear brother of James Russell Wingett (Ginny). He held a special place in the lives of his partner’s children, Michelle Neely and Eric Neely, and they in his.

Donald served his country faithfully as a U.S. Marine in the Vietnam War and later as a member of the U.S. Army during Desert Storm. Throughout his life, he remained connected to the veteran community through the VFW, where he found friendship and continued purpose.

In his career as a Registered Nurse, Donald was known not only for his skill, but for his calm presence and kindness.

Outside of his career, he found joy in creating with his hands. Whether building something new or repairing what was broken, he had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything.

Affectionately known as “Captain Don”, he will be remembered not only for his service and talents, but for his sense of humor and the warmth he brought to those around him. He had a gift for making people laugh, often when they needed it most, and his spark lit up every room.

A private service at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will take place at a later date.

In gratitude for the care he received, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospice Program at the VA Pittsburgh/Aspinwall Hospital (https://www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online). Memorial contributions may also be made to the Shaler VFW Post #9199.
