Donald Whitmore “Ted”

Donald Whitmore (Ted) 87 of Washington, PA, and formerly of Brewster, Beach City, and New Philadelphia, OH, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him.   He was born September 1934,  to Clarence S. and Donna Lucille Whitmore and was preceded in death by 12 brothers and 3 sisters, and daughter, Julie and son Scott.   On September 24, 1955, he married Virginia Whitmore his surviving spouse.

A 1952 graduate of Brewster high School where he participated in football, baseball and basketball.  He was employed by Wheeling Lake Erie (Brewster) Railroad and was employed and retired at Republic Steel, Massillon, OH.  After retirement worked as a courier, security guard, and salesman to keep busy.

Ted was a member of the Beach City United Methodist Church and Broadway United Methodist, New Philadelphia.  Over the years he held various office positions and member of the choir.  

He was a member of the Beach City Council and was acting mayor for a short period.  

His favorite pastime was spending time with family and coaching his son’s youth baseball teams.  He also was an avid sport’s spectator following his grandchildren Jordan and Luke playing baseball, basketball and football.  

Surviving is brother Robert L. Whitmore of California, daughter, Vicki (Dick Baker) of Washington PA, grandson’s Jordan (Jess), Luke (Alissa) and great granddaughter’s, Brinlee Claire and Madison Kay, daughter-in-law Barbara Whitmore, granddaughter’s Erynn and Samantha of New York City and best buddy Argie (family pet).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church, 120 Church Avenue SE, New Philadelphia 44663.  (Discretionary Fund)

A service with full military honors will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
