Doris J. Murray, 82, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2026.

Born on January 19, 1944, in Canonsburg, PA, Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Sara Garrison and the devoted wife of the late Thomas Murray.

Doris was a remarkable woman whose strength, determination, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. After dedicating many years to caring for others as a health aide, she achieved a lifelong goal by earning her nursing license at the age of 50. She went on to enjoy a fulfilling career in nursing until her retirement at the age of 73, caring for her patients with the same kindness and compassion that defined every aspect of her life.

While she found purpose in her work, Doris’s greatest joy was always her family. She cherished being at home, where she created a warm and welcoming place filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable meals. An exceptional cook and gracious hostess, she delighted in bringing family together around her table. Her Christmas cookies and famous pumpkin cake became treasured holiday traditions that her loved ones eagerly anticipated each year. For Doris, the holidays were never just a season—they were a celebration of family, togetherness, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

She also treasured the friendships she cultivated over the years, especially the simple joy of sharing lunch and conversation with dear friends. An animal lover, Doris adored her dogs throughout her life, and her faithful companion, Finn, remained by her side until the very end, providing comfort and unconditional love.

Doris was the last surviving of ten siblings, a testament to a life well lived and a family deeply rooted in love.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Kim Branco; her cherished grandsons, Jeremy and Joseph Branco, whom she loved fiercely and was endlessly proud of; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love.

Doris will be remembered for her caring spirit, quiet strength, incredible perseverance, and the way she made everyone who entered her home feel like family. Though she will be deeply missed, the traditions she created, the love she shared, and the countless lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
