Dorothy “Dottie” Walker

Dorothy “Dottie” Walker, age 98, passed away January 25, 2022. Born November 24, 1923 in Buffalo, NY to Fred and Mary Waldorf, she married her one true love, Jack Walker, December 28, 1944 after his return to England as a Lt. bombardier/navigator in B24s. They started married life at Davis Montha Army Air Field, Tucson, AZ. After the end of WWII, they returned to Tonawanda, NY. In just a few years, they were drawn back to Arizona and moved to Scottsdale, with daughter Sandy. Dorothy loved children and worked at a day care center prior to becoming a medical assistant. After Jack’s passing (1985), she continued to live in her home until 2015 when she moved to Pittsburgh to live with her daugther Sandy, son-in-law Mike and her pride and joy – her grandson Charlie.

Sewing was always her passion. She loved to make clothes and quilts. She an her husband Jack were the first husband/wife Girl Scout Leaders in Arizona, leading girls on many desert adventures. She was a member of Ladies Sodality, a hostess for the Senior Center Visually Impaired Support Center and became a 2012 Scottsdale Community Here for 1000+ hours of service. She enjoyed dinners with the Red Hat Society and attributed her long life to a glass of red wine and chocolate anything for dessert. She loved traveling, visiting her daughter in the Philippines, Japan, England, Germany and many places in the US.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her five sisters: Helen, Ruth, Marie, Ester and Frances. She will be dearly missed by Sandy, Mike, grandson Charlie, and nieces Jan and Barb.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. A Requiem Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. John Capistran Parish in Upper St. Clair, PA.
