Edward L. Kerns age 77 of Prosperity, formerly of Claysville passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 21, 2021.

Born on September 24, 1943 of Washington, PA.

He was the beloved husband of Violet Arlene Kerns; loving father of Craig W. Kerns, Jeffrey S. Kerns (Crystal Stepanovich) and the late Edward D. Kerns; grandfather of Tyler J. (Kayla) Kerns, Courtney (Patrick) Barrett, and Cassidy Kerns; great grandfather of Maddie and McKenzie Barrett and Emma Kerns; brother of Betty Kafka, Ginger Fisher and Mina Guy; many nieces and nephews; best friends Craig Moore and Jean McGary, and the late James McGuire and Tom Milligan.

Ed like to hunt, garden, travel and most of all spend time with his family.  He was always ready when anyone needed help.  Mr. Kerns worked for 11 years at Richey’s Grocery in Lagonda.  He then left and went to Green Valley Packing until a medical retirement in 1987.

He graduated in 1961 from McGuffey High School.  He is still close to his classmates today.  In 1963, he married Arlene White Kerns in Cumberland, Maryland.  They celebrated 58 years of marriage on March 15, 2021.

Family and friends are welcome Saturday, July 24, 2021 from noon until the time of service at 4 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317.
