Elizabeth Brumbaugh Perry, age 105 passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Samuel Wesley Perry Jr.; loving mother of Ann (the late Dr. Richard) Mayberry, Susan (Gerald) Farmer, James (Cathy) Perry and the late Dr. Samuel Wesley (Anna) Perry III; and cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and counting.

She was proceeded in death by her siblings, Dr. Simon C. Brumbaugh Jr. and Esther Smith.

Betty had an extended family of many nieces, nephews and cousins, her friends at Friendship Village, and the friends she met around the world.

Betty was an elegant woman who sought knowledge and wisdom throughout her life. A Registered Nurse who trained at Pennsylvania Hosptial, she was always curious, going to Westminster College in her 50s, traveling the world to learn how others lived, reading books on all religions of the world, and listening to books on tape as her eyesight diminished in the last years of her life.  She loved the theatre and particularly the glamour and fashion of the stars. She had the warmth and kindness to make a connection with everyone she met and was known as “Aunt Betty” to her extended family and the friends she met on her life’s journey.

There will be a memorial service at Friendship Village on December 10, 2017 at 4:30 pm.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.

In lieu of flowers, we hope that you will reach out to loved ones with a note, just as Betty would have done.

Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at www.cremationfuneralcare.com.

To the Perry Family, Thanks you for the notice of Betty's passing in the New Castle News. I am sorry we did not have one last visit together from over one year ago at her Friendship Village home. I fondly remember Betty's 100 year birthday celebration and the turnout for this wonderful soul. She was one special, special person.

Betty Perry introduced me to Unity, taking me to the Village and introducing me to the Fillmore descendents and also James Dillet Freeman whose Prayer for Protection was taken to the moon by our astrounauts. New Castle was a happier place when she lived here--and so was the planet.
