Emily Anne Parise, 39, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 14, 2024.

Emily was born in Pittsburgh on February 28, 1985, to Leanne and Carl Parise.

Emily was the beloved fiancé of Bobby LaValley, the loving mother to Josie LaValley, dear sister to Erica (Craig) Stefancin and Andrew Parise (Kimberly), and cherished aunt to Luke and Cole Stefancin.  Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and lifelong friends also survive Emily.

Emily was a woman who made a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to meet her.    She grew up in Bethel Park, PA.  Emily’s talent and dedication were recognized in her early years as a proud member of the Modernettes Baton Corps, where she excelled in national and international competitions.  Following her time in the Modernettes, Emily continued to showcase her talent as a majorette for Bethel Park High School until graduation.

After high school, Emily continued to live her life and had a positive impact on everyone she met.  Her contagious laughter made everyone feel good around her.  Emily always enjoyed celebrating, and she loved music, dancing, and living life to the fullest.

Emily’s daughter, Josie, was the center of her universe.  Her love for Josie knew no bounds, and she took immense pride in every aspect of motherhood, especially in cheering for Josie at her softball games.  Emily’s ability to maintain a brave front and demonstrate her inner strength to her daughter was a testament to her unwavering love and resilience.

Emily was a dynamic individual who faced her battles with unmatched strength.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29, and it was then discovered that she had Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS), a mutation of the TP53 gene.  Despite facing this news, Emily fought with a deep determination.  She became an advocate for those living with LFS, dedicating herself to educating others and promoting early detection of the syndrome.  Even as she fought her own battle, she was there for others who were newly diagnosed, forming many cherished friendships along the way.  Emily’s impact extended beyond the LFS community to the AHN Breast Cancer Organization.  She touched many lives and left a legacy of strength, love, and kindness.  Her inspiration and dedication have had a lasting impact on our community.  Even after her passing, Emily’s pledge to learn all she could about LFS and help the future continues through the lives she has touched.

A gathering of family and friends are welcome on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington  Rd. McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.  A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 9:30 am at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102.  At the family’s request, everyone will meet at the church on Tuesday; the burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Living LFS, 637 W. Highway 50, #195, O’Fallon, IL 62269, Living LFS Donate or to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, 500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108-1235, Huntsman Cancer Foundation Donate

I knew Emily from high school. I'm a pretty shy person so it meant a lot to me when Emily would try to pull me out of my shell. We'd always lock our pinkies together when we saw each other between classes. If she left such a lasting impression on me, I can only imagine how many other's she touched in her life. I will always remember how bubbly and full of joy she was and how it continued in her battle with cancer. Josie, your Mom was one of a kind. Love you Emily <3
