Mr. and Mrs. Shoup, I don't have the words to express my deepest sympathy for your loss - a loss felt and shared by the entire Unisys community across the U.S. and in fact the world. Emily worked very closely with my Stealth architects and developers, always with an eye to how our customers perceive our products, which provided very useful insights to our engineers. On a more personal note though, Emily was much more than a work colleague to myself and many others here at Unisys. For example, we often met for dinner and drinks when my son, who is a musician, was performing at the local pubs. I know how much support you gave Emily over the last couple of years, but of course that's what parents do. Nothing I or anyone can say will relieve your sorrow, but I will offer what my cousin, who lost her son said to me when my wife and I lost our daughter. You will never get over this, but you can get through it. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Rob Johnson

Emily was always brave and courageous in every battle she faced. She took each hardship in stride, like it was just the next thing to do. She was also one of the most thoughtful people we knew, especially her amazing talent for giving just the right gift. We were blessed to be her friends over the last 25 years.

I can remember meeting Emily when her family first moved to McMurry in the mid 1990's. During the ~25 years I knew Emily she was always headstrong and a spitfire with a very quick wit. Incredibly beautiful inside and out. She was the first girl I ever kissed and taught be how to be a doting boyfriend while balancing having a healthy fear of her father. We stayed in touch as we went our separate ways, usually exchanging Christmas cards and we would try to connect the few times I was in Philadelphia. I'm incredibly sad we weren't able to meet when I was there two years ago and sadder still I didn't have a chance to say goodbye. My father always thought the world of her and would tease her and she could always dish it right back. I'd like to think they are spending some long overdue time together now catching up. All my love to her entire family.
