Ernest N. Maley, Sr., 81 of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 20, 2022. Beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Karen (McDonough) Maley. He was born June 15, 1940, in Washington, PA and is the son of the late Neil “Bus” and Helen E. Maley.

Ernest proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as a pilot and Captain. He was the recipient of many service medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross with Gold Air Medal. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. Ernest was a bus driver for special needs children for Matthews Bus Co. in his retirement years. He loved his four- legged buddy “Tara”, playing Bingo, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and telling stories to anyone who would listen.

In addition to Karen, he is survived by his loving children, Allison (Patrick) Sweeney and Ernest (Shelley) Maley; grandchildren, Lindsay (Tyler) McNary, Tommy Hoffman, Grace and Katie Sweeney, Caroline (Daniel) Richard, Duke (Lydia) Maley and Evan Maley; great-grandchildren, Mason, Max and Myles McNary, Laurel, Brielle and Caleb Richard and Owen Maley.

A service with full military honors will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Everyone will meet at 10:00 am at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317 to then process to the cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ernest’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org.
