Ernestine Huddleston Lansel, age 93, quietly went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 16, 2021. Born on April 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Daisy E. Clever and Leonard G. Huddleston. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Lansel. Loving mother to JoAnn (Norm) Kaufman and Jeanette (surviving spouse of the late Larry) Vaira.

Cherished grandmother to Thomas (Ron Straw) Abate, Jayson Kaufman, Mylo (Nicole) Vaira, Monica Vaira and Kelsey, David, Wyatt, and Leah Kaufman. Loving great grandmother to 7 great grandchildren. Ernestine was preceded in death by her siblings Geraldine Beedy, Lee (Ray) Montminy, Ruth Fleming, Leonard, Paul, and Charles Huddleston, and her beloved grandchildren Matt Abate and Brandon Abate.

Ernestine became a devout follower of the Lord for over 40 years after she “met the Lord in her kitchen” and he assured her, “He would never leave nor forsaketh her.” (Deuteronomy). Thereafter, she studied her Bibles daily and loved sharing her faith with others.

She was infamous and the designer and creator of more than 500 Prayer Bunnies with “God loves you” stamped on the ears. With great enthusiasm, she gifted the bunnies to all those who were in need of blessings. In addition, friends and family recognized her as an avid Steelers advocate with her designed “Steelers Prayer Bunnies.”

As a child, she and her siblings were raised in Fairmount Children’s Orphanage in Ohio, whereby she proudly played the Saxophone in their marching band. She was a driven and competent career Waitress at Magno’s and Stoffers for over 20 years.

Ernestine was loved for her irresistible quick with sense of humor, smile and light of the Lord in her eyes. She will be remembered, loved and missed by all who have celebrated her life.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Ernestine’s life on January 15, 2021 at 11 AM at Library Baptist Church (Crossroads Ministries), 81 Walter Long Road, Finleyville, PA 15332, (412)-833-1500. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.

Dear Jeannette, I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. My mom was a recipient of one of those beautiful bunnies. I will pray for your family. Elaine Schneider Johnston
