Eugene John Fahey

Eugene John Fahey, age 71, of Canonsburg, PA passed away at home peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born on July 18, 1949, he was the loving husband of the late Linda Rose Fahey; immensely loved and amazing father of Eugene John Fahey Jr., Shawn (Greta) Fahey, Mike Fahey, and Katherine (Dustin) Chenney; cherished Grandpa (Pawtti, Papa, Baba, and Pampa) of Shawn Jr and Ethan Fahey, Kelsey, Deegan, Dempsy, Deklin, and one more on the way Chenney; survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. He was the son of the late John and Marie Maddigan Fahey.
Born in Buffalo, New York, he met the love of his life Linda Rose Fahey at the age of 16, and theirs was a love story for the ages. They had their 4 amazing children and 6 amazing grand- children with one more on the way that he was so excited about. He also loved his brothers and sisters very much.
Eugene’s academic and work achievements were many and varied. He traveled and worked around the world. He worked hard from a young age, and he worked his way up in this world. when he was just 14 years old he worked at a car dealership in Buffalo. He loved that job and had lots of stories to tell about it. Eugene then worked for Edgewood Corporation in Buffalo until 1971. When he lived in Florida, he worked for the Fort Lauderdale Water Authority and was promoted to supervisor in 1978 just before moving to Claysville, Pennsylvania. While in Florida, he received his degree in Water/ Wastewater Treatment and Management. He contin- ued his education in this field for many years and received credits from multiple universities in- cluding Florida , Clemson University, and California State University. He then worked as the warehouse manager for Songer from 1978-1991. From 1991-1999 he worked in Water/ Wastewater Management and Treatment in Buffalo, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He continued this career around the world when in 1999 he was offered a job for Kvaerner Songer and later a private contractor on the Federal Naval Air Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His beautiful wife followed him there shortly after and they enjoyed their life abroad to- gether. In 2004, they transferred to the Federal Naval Air Station in Keflavic, Iceland and then in 2008 they transferred to the United States Army Base Yongsan Garrison in Seoul, South Ko- rea where he worked at a grocery store and as a School Support Technician on the bases. Eugene retired in 2010 back to the U.S. where he lived in Canonsburg, PA with his wife, their daughter and her husband, and their grandchildren until he passed.
Eugene had the biggest heart! He would help anyone. He was an intelligent, gentle, patient, kind, gracious, beautiful soul. He was a gentle warrior. His life wasn’t always easy but he al- ways persevered. He had a love for animals, in which his kind and gentle nature really shown through. He loved his sports and all his life he was a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, and the New York Yankees. He loved history and he could repeat it back to you in such detail as if he was there. He had a knack for trivia and we always thought he should have applied for Jeopardy. He loved plants, planting, having a garden, and saving any plants his daughter may have almost killed. He loved to camp, hunt, and fish in his younger years. He loved a good time, homemade food especially made by his wife, daughter, and son, and he loved his Weber’s mustard.
His wife was the love of his life, and so were his children and grandchildren.
He would have given anything to any of them until his last day. He loved to play with, tease, and spoil his grandchildren. He always had cookies, donuts, fruit snacks, lollipops, and choco- late milk in heavy stock for his children all the way to him becoming a free spirit. When he was around any of them, there was a twinkle in his eye. Now, he is dancing to oldies with his wife in Heaven while they watch over everyone they loved.
Eugene Fahey was a very giving and humble man even when he had little. He always pulled over and gave money to anyone standing on the street asking for money. He always put mon- ey in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles everywhere he saw one. He also sent money to multiple charities such as St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, the Salvation Army, and different vet- erans charities throughout the year. So, the next time you see someone on the side of the road in need or a red kettle or you have a chance to donate to anyone or any charity- give some- thing for my Dad!
