Franklin Pinkney Sr., affectionately known as “Doodles,” passed away peacefully at his home in Washington, PA, on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on October 20, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mabel Pinkney of Marianna.

He is survived by his loving children Franklin (Gail) Pinkney Jr., Robert (Hazel) Clifford, and Rebecca (Steven) Alderman. He was adored as “Pap Pap” by his 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will always remember him as a source of unconditional love and limitless candy. Doodles was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of West Beth High School, Class of 1951, Doodles led a fulfilling career as a cement mason before retiring. He was actively involved in his community, serving as a member and board member of several organizations, including the Moose, Alpine Club, and VFW.

A talented amateur baseball player in his youth, Doodles remained passionate about sports and continued to spend his free time golfing and bowling. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and could often be found watching their games.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at a future date to celebrate his remarkable life.
