Fred Alton Sapp, 71, of Washington, PA formerly of Paden City, West Virginia passed away with family by his side on December 7, 2025. Born on October 4, 1954 in Clearmont, Florida he is the son of the late Fred and Janice Sapp.

Beloved husband to Roni Barger with whom he spent 25 years together; Loving father to Kylee Sapp and Aaron Sapp; Step-father to Ryan (Trischa) Winters, Kyle (Julia) Winters, and Peyton Hull; Brother to Sherri (Robby) Sapp Williams and Kim (Joseph) Riggi; Pap to Mason, Kiersten, RJ, Kirra, Xander, Abby, Morgan, Kyle, Kamryn, Nathaniel, and Lovè.

Fred was a true free spirit, known for his easygoing nature and the colorful Hawaiian shirts he wore with pride. He had a gift for conversation and loved spending time with friends, sharing stories, jokes, and the many “Fred-isms” that were uniquely his those one-of-a-kind sayings and analogies that only he could come up with.

Fred enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: watching football and basketball, taking long drives with no particular destination, and being around people who made him smile. His humor and unmistakable personality made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service with full military honors will be held on January 3, 2026 at 12pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, PA, McMurray, 15317. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred’s name to American Legion Post 175. All arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.

Emmett Sapp Jr
My name is Emmett Sapp Jr. I’m Fred’s cousin. While I haven’t seen Fred since his youth days I want to express my condolences to the immediate family. I remember Fred as a big strong athletic guy that I looked up to as “the man!” I believe basketball was his favorite sport. I pray for the immediate family and all take comfort in that Jesus conquers all .. even death.
