Garvin Anthony Putt, 67, of Washington, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Washington.
He was born January 8, 1958, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Paul A. Putt and Louise Cochran.
Garvin was a 1975 graduate of Fort Cherry High School. He was an active member of the marching band and concert band, and also organized a jazz/stage band during his later high school tenure. He was a fixture in the Pittsburgh music scene for many years. He made a living playing bass guitar and drums with local band Sidewinder, and played with various groups in the area. Garvin worked in furniture sales for many years at JCPenney in Washington, and most recently as a senior project director with Montgomery IP Associates.
On June 5, 1981, he married Rosalyn Darnley, in Midway. Surviving are his wife, Rosalyn Putt of Washington; a son, Chris Putt of Bridgeville; a sister, Paula Putt of Finleyville; and two aunts, Kathleen Zimbicki of Rennerdale and Catherine Cochran of Seattle, Wash.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a son, Ian A. Putt, who passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Garvin was known for his deep sense of humor, love of all animals, and a passion for music. He was an extremely caring husband, brother, father, and member of his extended family. He also gave the gift of life by being an organ donor as his last act of selflessness.
There will be no visitations or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of gifts, the immediate family encourages loved ones to donate to a local public broadcasting or independent radio station, which provided so much comfort and enjoyment throughout Garvin’s life.
