Gary Hough, of Pittsburgh, passed away on July 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 4, 1959, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Gary was a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, veteran, and friend whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with those he loved.
Gary was the beloved husband of Dolores Niebel Hough. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his world. He was the proud father of Zachary (Alexis) Hough and Trevor (Lindsay) Hough, and the adoring “Pappy” of May, Luca, and Elloise Hough.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982. Following his military service, he began a career with OK Grocery, where he worked faithfully from 1983 until his retirement in 2009.
A devoted sports fan, Gary rarely missed cheering on his beloved West Virginia Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he enjoyed football and following his favorite teams, nothing compared to the happiness he found with his grandchildren. He treasured every moment with May, who lovingly called him “Happy Pappy,” and the cuddles from Luca and Elloise never failed to brighten his day. His grandchildren brought immeasurable joy and purpose to his life.
In retirement, Gary found another meaningful calling through his years of volunteer service at Roots of Faith in Sharpsburg. He took great pride in serving others and was grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference in his community.
Gary will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering love for his family, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the family he cherished above all else.
