Gary Paul Book, Sr., age 76, of Kennedy Township, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Born on October 10, 1947, he is son of the late Betty and Alvin Book.

Beloved father of Darlynda DiIanni, Gary Book, Jr., children of Concetta Sartori (Jim Sartori) and Paul Sanker son of Lori Sanker. Brother of Marialaine Bonner (Timothy Bonner -deceased) and Anita Hull (Tracy Hull-deceased). Uncle of Denise Evans (John Paul Evans), Kelley Holland (Jason Holland) and Cory Ruettgers (son of Jerry Ruettgers-deceased). Grandfather of Azure Geist (Nathan Geist) and Harlee DiIanni. Great uncle of Mirra Ruettgers.  Great grandfather of Danielle Hufnagel.   He is also survived by his partner, Sherry Rich, as well as many other family members and friends.

Gary, also known as Uncle Grump, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with many friends throughout his life. He also took great pride in being a golf coach for the Special Olympics and an active member of the American Legion Post #862.  He also enjoyed his monthly breakfast with his long-time friends and coworkers from the many years he spent as a machinist at R.B. & W.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. A service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017 , if you wish to join the procession to the cemetery, please meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m.

Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Special Olympics.
