George Arthur Wain, age 76, of Sewickley, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on March 1, 2026. Born on August 29, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the beloved son of the late George and Catherine Wain.

In his youth, George lived in Pittsburgh and graduated from Munhall High School. Shortly after graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country during the Vietnam War and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant.

After completing his tour of service, George met the love of his life, Frieda. The two were married in 1972 and built a beautiful life together, raising their two sons, Sean, born in 1974, and Brian, born in 1978.

George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. He enjoyed coaching his sons’ Little League baseball teams and continued coaching even after his sons had finished playing, sharing his love of the game with many young athletes over the years.

He worked for many years on the railroad until his retirement. In his free time, George loved golfing—a passion he shared with his father and later with his sons. He enjoyed participating in golf leagues and treasured the time spent on the course with family and friends.

Above all else, George always put his family first. No matter the situation, he was always there to support and help his loved ones whenever they needed him. His son Brian often said that his dad was not only his father, but also his best friend. George was known by those closest to him as a “tough, sweetheart,” a man with strength, kindness, and a deeply caring heart.

George is survived by his loving wife, Frieda Wain; his son, Brian (Jessica) Wain; his sister, Mary; his brother, Jeff; six cherished grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sean Wain.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. Interment will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

George will be greatly missed and will live forever in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.

Truly going to miss George. He was my good buddy out at the Air Force Base. We spent many years hanging together out there and on the golf course. Loved his spirit.
